Functional Cognitive Assessments
An occupational therapist can assess how an individual’s thinking and processing skills affect their ability to perform daily tasks, such as managing finances and household activities, taking medications, driving, and attending work or school. An assessment of functional cognition usually involves taking a closer look at skills such as memory, focus, attention, and problem-solving.
Assessments typically involve a combination of interview, observation, and administration of standardized tests. Recommendations to help manage cognitive changes can also be provided.
